I don't like this

Mission:
Those who are left behind
Location: Xaviers Quarters
Timeline: Current
Walking into their quarters, his first destination was to see the twins. The ship was officially not his right now, and he couldn't be happier for Toni, being given the ship along with the new rank. Seeing the room empty, he figured that they were gong out for a while. Which was fine gave him some time to think. The mission he was tasked with, would bring hope, not for a quick end, but something that the federation needed, a direction. They were playing defense right now... something that wasn't going to win this war. Perhaps these people that he had been tasked with rescuing can start making that happen.
Sky had followed Xavier back to their quarters, she couldn’t say what she wanted to say where others might hear plus in their quarters the chain of command didn’t apply. She knew there wouldn’t be any changing Xavier’s mind, but she didn’t have to like it.
"I know what you are going to say Sky, I have a family I have to stay for. You, the Kids, Tal..." He turned facing her. "This isn't my first choice. But if it can help the federation and our allies in this war... its a small price."
“Don’t you dare say that!” Sky gave Xavier an angry glare. “I know you'll go no matter what I say, but don’t you dare quote the small price bit to me! We just had two babies Xavier, they need you, I need you!!”
"In the small scheme of things, perhaps I am needed, look at the bigger picture." He placed his hands on her shoulders. "This may or may not end the war, but it will help us. I know it will. It will help starfleet, it will help our kids. If I can do something small to try and help them grow up... To help all the kids out there. It would be selfish for me not to go."
"Whats going on." The door opening, and Tal walked in. Noticing the tense conversation, she dared not to undress as she normally did while returning home.
Sky looked round at Tal obviously distressed. “Our husband is leaving the ship to undertake a mission that he might not be coming back from.”
"I will be coming back, Starfleet is labeling it a suicide mission. But it only is if I don't intend to come back, I fully intend to come back." Xavier replied as he looked at both. "I have Tal and You. You both are my rocks, and my foundation to come back to. Not to mention the two kids."
Sky took a deep breath as she nodded. “I’m sorry, I just… we’ve faced situations like this before but not since I married you and had the twins. It feels so different facing this kind of situation now.”
"I know. But its a stronger reason for me to go." Xavier replied placing a hand on her cheek. "For you, for them. A fathers sacrifice if need be, just so his kids can grow."
"How long before you leave." Tal asked as she approached.
"Ive got to brief our cardassian onnboard to see what the next course of action is." Xavier replied. "So a few days at least. While Toni gets adjusted."
Sky nodded. “Then I want us to spend as much of that time together as we can, just incase you…” she paused unable to even think about Xavier not coming back.
"Absolutely. But I will be coming back I promise."
Sky nodded as she looked into Xavier’s eyes. “I believe you, but I don’t have to like it Imzadi.”
"Never said I liked it." Xavier replied as he gave her a kiss.
Sky returned the kiss, being married and a mother added a whole new dimension to her life. “I…we, will be waiting for you.” She looked at Tal then back at Xavier. “If you don’t come back I’ll find a way to find you, no matter what it takes.”
"When I do come back." He replied. "We will make up for lost time."
“Damn right we will” Sky nodded mustering the best smile she could manage.
"Hey... I promise ok... nothing will stop me." He replied as he looked to Sky and Tal. "So what do you guys have in mind while still here."
Sky shrugged her shoulders. “Right now I don’t know.”
"Well we are still at the starbase, we could see what is available they have."
Sky moved to stand up, “Not right now, I’m sorry I just need a little time.”
"Very well." He turned to Tal. "There are things I need to attend to. Stay with Sky. She needs you."
Tal nodded, kissed him before going over to Sky. As she watched Xavier leave, she turned to Sky. "Whats on your mind."
Sky motioned to the doors. “Xavier is what’s on my mind! I guess you’re used to him going off on dangerous missions but I’m not! I don’t want him to go!!”
"Actually, no I am not. I guess I am still stuck in the mindset that, we must all do what we must in order to help the ones we love. If this mission does get what we hope it will. It could bring information that will help the federation in the war. Any help we get right now, will benefit the federation, and us. Hopefully give our kids a future" She sat down on a branch she used as her chair, it was much higher than Skys or Xaviers, due to her height. "When I first came onboard the Remington. I was told Starfleet was a great power in the Galaxy. But in order to keep that power, it came at a high price. I accept things, readily and without question. But it does not mean I am happy about it. I have the utmost trust in Xavier. But the moment I start calling out his decisions, whether he likes them or not. It puts doubt in his mind. If I accept without question. He has no need to start doubting himself. Whether it even be subconsciously."
Sky didn’t say anything for a moment. “I don’t want him to doubt himself Tal, I want him to have a clear mind. I don’t have to like it, but I’ll support it if that’s what brings him back to us.”
"He knows you support him no matter what. Its as hard on him, as it is on us. trust me."
Sky nodded. “I shouldn’t have made Xavier feel like I wasn’t supporting this, I’ll make it up to him later.”
"You are the mind reader. What does he think."
“I try not to pry” Sky sighed. “Plus my own emotions have a way of getting in the way of my senses. I know he doesn’t like leaving us, I guess I have to accept that he has to go.”
"Its the job... Just as you would make it... like.. Kirk said, the needs of the many... outweigh the needs of the few." She replied clearly, misnaming the quote.
Sky nodded. “I guess that’s something I have to get used to, being a wife and mother I’ll do what I need to do and look after my family.”
"As will he, and I. You know that."
Sky nodded. “Of course I do Tal, I love you both you know that. I never pictured myself being happy in a 3 way relationship, but it works for me and I wouldn’t change a thing about it.”
"Good to know. Now why don't we relax." She replied lifting her to the bed. "You are tired. Lets get some sleep."
Sky nodded as she lay down on the bed, there would be time to say goodbye to Xavier later.
